Joni Mitchell: “River”
As the gut-wrenching news of the day filters in from Connecticut, “River,” from Joni Mitchell’s 1971 album, Blue, is the only “Christmas” song that feels anywhere near right to post today. I’m sure many of us can identify with the line, “I wish I had a river, I could skate away on.” To be able to skate away to a place that never knew such madness — if only we could. This is for all the families of Newtown, Connecticut.
