I just heard this song for the first time very recently, and loved it right away. I know next to nothing about the group, except that they’re from Brooklyn and have released a pair of “buzzy” singles over the past year, including this one. I also know that naming your band “Friends” may not really be the best choice, given that it was also the name of an extremely popular television show that comes up first in Google every time. But with an album as good as this single, that won’t make any difference at all…

Their first full-length album, Manifest!, is set to come out in early June. If this single and the other songs I’ve listened to from those singles are any indication, the full album should most certainly be worth checking out.

In the meantime, enjoy “Friend Crush” — it’s a very catchy and cool song with a bit of an ’80s feel to it that’s sure to stick with you after just a listen or two. Lead singer Samantha Urbani’s voice is as good an instrument as anything in the song — it could almost be considered the song’s hook, if it weren’t for that little synth thing. And that bass line. And that drum beat.
