I use the very effective Akismet comment spam filter on Reselect.com, and each week it removes a large number of comments that come from spammers automatically, so that I don’t have to deal with that. But I always skim through the spam that it pulls out, first of all because I want to make sure a legitimate comment hasn’t been trashed by accident, but also because it’s sometimes quite entertaining to see what the spammers come up with. They’re often amusing for a variety of reasons, so I thought that I’d start a weekly post highlighting my favorite spam from that week’s “mail” (minus the associated link, so as not to encourage them TOO much).

To start things off, here’s a succinct little nugget that came through on Thursday, in reference to my June 2011 Chuck Berry “No Particular Place to Go” post (a veritable magnet for spammers, as it turns out):

Well thank you, sir! Although I do my best to be easygoing here, it’s always nice to be reminded that I’m succeeding. Keep reading this blog and others like it, and I’m sure you’ll be rattling along with the English language in no time! And please encourage your fellow spammers to keep up the good and important work they do as well. At the very least they will give me something worth posting each Saturday.
